Governor Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has approved the execution of various projects in 200 communities across the state in the areas of Health, Education, Water, Nutrition and Erosion Control through the Gombe State COVID-19 Action Recovery And Economic Stimulus (GO-CARES), a replica of the federal government’s NG-CARES programme.

General manager of the Gombe State Community and Social Development Agency Haruna Ahmed Imam disclosed this at the commencement of a comprehensive training workshop to enhance the capacity of Community and Group Management Committees of communities selected for the execution of the projects.

The workshop was aimed at equipping them with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively carry out the projects and ensuring its successful implementation and sustainability.

He stated that the GO-CARES programme execution commenced with seven communities and expanded to 28, then to 77 and now to 200 communities.

“This is a testament to the Gombe State government’s commitment in bringing succor to the poor and vulnerable as evidenced by consistent release of funds and support to the Agency.

“The objective of the workshop is to empower community members with the tools and expertise needed to take ownership of the project and drive its success.”, he explained

The GM emphasized the agency’s commitment to fostering community empowerment through collaborative projects adding that sustainable change begins at the grassroots level by investing in communities and providing them with the necessary tools and knowledge.
