South Africa have renewed their hopes of remaining in the African Nations Cup after beating Namibia 4-0 in a highly entertaining match at the Amagoun Don Coulbay Stadium on Sunday night

South Africa was left at the bottom of group after being beaten by Mali in their first game of the tournament.

A loss to Namibia would have sent them out of the tournament currently holding in Ivory Coast.

Namibian came into the match with high hopes that an upset would them four points to take them second in the group to Mali after earning a point from a draw in their first match.

But the Namibians have been left shaken after what turned out to be an aggressive first half against South Africa, who scored three goals against the Brave Warriors in the first part of their Afcon match in Côte d’Ivoire.

Percy Tau broke the deadlock when he scored from the penalty spot to give South Africa the lead.

Themba Zwane scored two goals in the 25th and 40th minutes to wrap up what turned out to be a fantastic first half for South Africa.

In the second half, Thabe Maseka sealed the victory to make it 4-0 South Africa.

With the result, South Africa now sits second on the table next with three points next Mali with four points with Namibia also on 3 points while Tunisia is bottom of the table in Group E with just 1 point after a draw and a loss.

A win for any of the top three countries in the next match will earn them qualification for the knock out
