AFCON: Wasteful Eagles held to a 1-1 draw by Equatorial Guinea

The Super Eagles of Nigeria Sunday managed a 1-1 draw with Equatorial Guinea in the on-going African Nations Cup at the National Stadium in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.
The Nigerian team fell behind after Edu capitalized on a defensive error by defender Onyeka in the 56th minute allowed to beat home based goal keeper Nwabili and scored a fantastic goal.
The Super Eagles responded swiftly with a clean pass from Lookman which was headed home by African reigning footballer of the Year Victor Osihmen into the opponents net.
Both teams labouered till the final whistle without any impact. Osihmen missed a Golden opportunity after shooting wide on a one on one pass from Onyeka.
Injured Yusuf was replaced by Victor Aribo and other substitutions by Coach Paseiri did not yield results as the match ended in 1-1 draw atb regulation time.
The next encounter of the Super Eagles is with host Côte d’Ivoire and Nigeria has a Herculean task to overcome the home team.
Nigeria’s lackluster performance was heavily criticised by fans who described the coach as lacking tactics as be has drawn five matches without a win.
