Yobe East Senatorial bye-election: Mustapha Set To Emerges as APC Candidate to Replace Gaidam

Honourable Musa Mustapha is set to be the flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Yobe East Senatorial bye-election in February.
The primary election, which took place at the August 27 Stadium, Damaturu, was conducted in a peaceful and orderly manner.
No fewer than 360 delegates from the seven local government areas Yobe East (Zone A) comprising of Damaturu, Gujba, Gulani, Tarmuwa, Bursari, Geidam and Yunusari were expected to vote at the primary.

The delegates, five from each ward across seven local government area, finished casting their votes after accreditation. The voting process has been concluded. The sorting and counting of ballot has commence.
Although, four aspirants bought the party’s Expression of Interest and Nomination forms to contest the primary, three were cleared by the Joshua Lidani led screening committee.
Hon. Musa Mustapha and Dr. Sanda Salisu contested against each other after Dr. Almajiri Gaidam reportedly stepped down.
Mustapha got 356 votes out of the total number 357 registered delegates while Salisu scored zero
The bye-election fixed for February 3, 2024, is aimed at replacing the former Senator Ibrahim Gaidam, who was appointed Minister of Police Affairs by President Bola Tinubu
