Mafita Women and Youth Development Initiative, (MAWOYDI) a non-governmental organization that works to uplift the standard of living of youth and women has commended the Bauchi State Government for signing into law the Child Rights Bill passed by the State’s House of Assembly.

Founder of MAWOYDI, Mrs Theresa Orude, who disclosed this in a press statement issued to journalists in Bauchi, said it was a good development that would enhance and protect the rights of children, women, and youth across the state.

It will be recalled that the State governor, Dr Bala Mohammed on Thursday, December 28, 2023 assented into law, the Child Rights Bill during the signing of the 2024 Appropriation Bill into law.

Orude said the signing of the law was an indication that the administration of Governor Mohammed is concern about the wellbeing of her young and vulnerable population saying it was the right step in the right direction in the efforts to protect the rights of children in Bauchi State.

She stated that the coming of the new law would go a long way to address numerous child abuses and the high number of out of school children in the state.

The Mafita Founder appealed to Governor Mohammed to continue to carry women along in his administration saying the organization would support the administration to uplift the standard of women and youth in the state

She urged partners and other stakeholders to join hands with the administration to ensure proper sensitization and smooth implementation of the Child Rights law throughout the state.

Mafita Women and Youth Development Initiative was founded in 2021 and had empowered women and youth in various communities in the state.
