How we shared proceeds of stolen Mekano generators- gang

A gang of suspected armed robbers which specialises in stealing Mekano generators has given insight into how they share proceeds of their ill-gotten wealth.
The suspects made the revelation when they were paraded by the Bauchi State command on Monday.
The Commissioner of Police Auwal Musa Mohammed, disclosed that the gang was arrested through sustained operations by officers and men of the Command.
Mohammed said the gang was behind generator thefts in the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), the Zonal cold office of the Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Katagum Local Government Area , and Azare Radio Station.
The suspects are Adamu Ibrahim, 30,of Zigau in Shira LGA, Ibrahim Adamu, 22 of Azare; Musa Aliyu alias Manager, 48yrs of Gwoza, Borno State,
Umar ‘m’ of Azare; Alh Sani, of Kano State; Sani Adamu, 22 of Gadau, Itas-Gadau LGA
Others are Rilwanu Saidu, of Kano State, Victor Moses, 29 of Hotoro Fagge LGA, Kano State, Isaac Success, 35 of Sabon Gari, Kano State, Adamu Ahmad ‘m’ Azare town, Katagum LGA, (habitual and unrepentant criminal)
Destiny Ihekwoabah ‘m’ aged 35yrs of Dutsen Bukuma, FCT Abuja, and receiver.
The police boss said that the above-mentioned suspects confessed to have carried out a series of operations in the National Open University of Nigeria and Cold Room close to the NTA station within Azare town Katagum LGA.
He explained that during interrogation, one of the members, Adamu Ibrahim stated that he was introduced to the gang through one Umar Abdullahi of Azare town.
Ibrahim said he participated in two operations carried out within Azare and benefitted N60,000 from the first operation and N50,000 as his share of the proceeds of the crime in the second operation from the gang leader.
Another gang member Ibrahim Adamu revealed that he got N30,000 from the proceeds of the crime.
Another suspect Musa Aliyu popularly known as Manager, a resident of Mopol Base in Dutse, Jigawa State, he disclosed that his first operation with the group along Azare-Giade road was in an MTN mast with a J5.
Aliyu said during that operation they tied the security guard and carted away one Mekano generator in 2022.
In Aliyu said he participated in two other separate operations at the Cold Room medicine store opposite NTA Television station Azare and the National Open University of Nigeria Azare Study Center along Kano-Azare road where the gang stole Mekano Generator from the two locations.
He confessed that he benefitted N50, 000 from the first operation and N30,00 in the second operation as his proceeds of crime.
He equally confessed to have participated in other several operations in Jigawa State and stole one mixer machine in Dutse, Jigawa State close to the House of Assembly Quarters, One Basic Generator in an old water reservoir along Gujungu via Taura LGA Jigawa State, and one Mekano in Garo LGA Kano State and benefitted the sum of N55,000 from the three operations carried out in Jigawa and Kano States respectively.
The fourth suspect Sani Adamu, aged 22 of Gadau area Itas-Gadau LGA, Bauchi State, confessed to have participated in the two operations at Medicine Cold store and National Open University of Nigeria in Azare town and he got N80,000 as his share of the proceed of crime.
Adamu Ahmad, 33 of Matsango area of Azare town Katagum LGA, confessed to have fully engaged in many criminal activities within and outside of Azare.
Ahmad disclosed that he has participated in an operation of vandalizing transformer oil sometime precisely December in the year 2022 and was arraign in court, later he was released, soon after his release he joint this gang that attacked the National Open University and killed the security guard and stole a Mekano, took to Abuja and sold to one Destiny Ihekwoabah.
Kabiru Haruna said he engaged in two operations at Medicine Cold Store and the National Open University all in Azare town and benefitted the sum of four hundred thousand naira (400,000) as his proceed of the crime.
CP Muhammad said exhibits recovered from the receiver included seven Mekano Generators
He assured of the command’s steadfastness and tireless commitment to the security of their lives and property and urged the citizens of the state to continue to be law-abiding, vigilant, and security-conscious.
