Bauchi: Police arrest two professional hunters for allegedly torturing man to death over theft of manhood

Bauchi State police Command has arrested three professional hunters who allegedly arrest, detained and tortured a man leading to his death in their custody

The commissioner of police Auwal Muhammad disclosed this on Tuesday while parading the suspects along with other suspects arrested for various crimes.

CP Muhammad said the two suspects were arrested following information from a reliable source

He gave the name of the suspects as Muhammad Umar, 43, of Takanda village and Hussain Umar, 35 of Zaranda Village,

He said the suspects arrested Joshua Yonana , 30, Bitrus Iliya, 27 and  Yonana Abubakar 35 years  Waya village respectively on suspicion of stealing a manhood.

“During interrogation by the quasi-members led to the beating up of the suspects in a bid to force them and unravel the facts of the allegation against them,” Muhammad said.

“Suddenly, one of the suspects Yonana Abubakar collapsed and was rushed to a nearby clinic, later died and was confirmed by a medical doctor.

“On receipt of the report, a team of detectives led by DPO Toro swung into action, rushed to the scene and arrested the members of the professional hunters to reap what they had sown, while the corps was released to the relatives for burial.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the three (3) arrested suspects were alleged of spiritually stealing a male organ of one Usman Sale, 28, of Sabon Garin Nabardo.

“During interrogation, the suspects confessed to have committed the alleged offence for ritual purposes which led to the arrest of their gang leader, who died during interrogation by the PROHAN. Investigation is still ongoing, after which the suspects will be charged to court for prosecution accordingly”
