My Bauchi Project: Mohammed vows to leave legacies for posterity
From Paul Orude Bauchi
Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has vowed to provide a leadership that will offer democratic dividends that will surpass his administration of the state.
Mohammed gave the assurance on Wednesday while declaring open a three-day retreat organised by the office of the Head of Service in collaboration with the office of the Secretary to the State Government.
The retreat, with the theme My Bauchi Project: Successes and Lessons of the first term and the way forward, was organised for Commissioners, Permanent Secretaries and Caretaker Committee Chairmen of local government areas in the state.
“The conventional belief is that the second term is used by Governors to prepare for retirement,” he stated.

“The story is told of a commentator who felt so disgusted by the performance or lack of it that he described it as the “curse of the second term”!
“As uncharitable as that may sound, my attitude is to see it as a challenge to the political elite to change the narrative leaving legacy projects that command the respect and confidence of the people”
The governor said he is not bothered by critics and pessimists who adjudge him too slow in his second tenure but promise be resolute in his dream to change the narratives.
He said he would use his second tenure to sustain those policies, programmes and projects that delivered unprecedented democracy dividends and set paradigm shifts in goal delivery.
Mohammed charged the participants at the retreat to key into the My Bauchi Project with a view to providing the needed synergy and drive to bring it to actualisation.
He urged them to embrace the golden opportunity to carve out a roadmap that leverages on strengths while addressing weaknesses.
“As we commit ourselves to diligent service, I am hopeful that with Allah’s guidance and our unified efforts, we will steer Bauchi State to heights unprecedented, etching a legacy of prosperity, harmony, and development for generations to come,” he said.
