“You must not sleep”….Bauchi Governor tasks 20 newly inaugurated Council Caretaker Chairmen on insecurity

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has charged newly sworn in Caretaker Chairmen in the state to take security in their different areas seriously.

He made the remark on Wednesday shortly after the 20 Local Government Caretaker Committee Chairmen and their Deputies took oath of allegiance presided over by  the Chief Judge of the  State, Justice Talatu Rabi.

Addressing them at the Multi-Purpose Indoors Hall, Governor Mohammed expressed concern that insecurity was being recorded in parts of the state recently.

“We have security challenges here and there,” he said.

“You are of what is going on in Ningi Local Government, Tafawa Balewa Local Government, Bogoro Local Government, Alkaleri local Government and part of Toro”

The 20 Caretaker Chairmen and their Deputies take the oath of allegiance at the Multi Purpose Indoors Hall on Wednesday

“We are not sleeping, you should also not sleep as Local Government C Caretaker Chairmen”

The governor called on the Caretaker Chairmen to work with the security agencies and the vigilante and the traditional rulers

“Anybody compromising security in your area let us know,” he stated.

“We will deal with him decisively no matter how highly placed.

“We are not going to allow ourselves to be prevented from our primordial occupation – that is farming.

“If we don’t farm in Bauchi, there will be problem, not only in Bauchi but in northern Nigeria and the country.

“We are one of the largest states with lots of arable land.

“We still enjoy a lot of peace

“Countries all over the world are coming to invest in Bauchi because of the good governance we have established.

“Whatever you do is going to affect me as a governor.

“You are the first line of defence and authority”
