According to him, the press enlightens the citizens on government’s policies and programmes and informs the leaders on the needs, aspirations and problems faced by the people.
He also said that mass communication is a marketable course to study pointing out that there are opportunities for mass communicators in the print, broadcast media and all government and non governmental organizations where they are needed as information officers.
“I want to encourage you not to end your career here as press club members. But you should study journalism or mass communication in universities or polytechnics because it is a marketable profession.
“As journalists, you can contribute to the development of the country and all sectors including the fight against corruption and criminalities. Journalists also help to facilitate developments to communities via their reportage.”, he stated.
Earlier, the assistant patron of the club Malam Adamu Bello explained that the club was established with the objective of building the capacity of the students, boosting their public speaking skills as well as broadcasting the school’s stories.
The school’s principal Malam Othman Buba represented by the senior master of the school Malam Hashimu Muhammad said the press club helps in fighting immoral acts among the students through their reportage.
