Gunmen attack PDP candidate, kill driver

Gunmen have attacked the campaign convoy of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Enugu North/South Federal Constituency, Oforchukwu Egbo.
POLITICS NIGERIA learned that the incident happened on Wednesday at Eke-Otu in Amechi Awkunanaw, Enugu South Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.
The assailants killed the driver of one of the buses in the convoy. His body was reportedly burnt with the vehicle.
Recall that some gunmen had also attacked and killed the Labour Party senatorial candidate for Enugu East senatorial district, Oyibo Chukwu, with five of his supporters in Amechi on Wednesday evening.
Chukwu, a barrister, was murdered while on a campaign movement around Agbani in the state.
These incidents come as Nigerians prepare for presidential and parliamentary elections on Saturday.
Efforts to speak with the State Police Public Relations Officer, Daniel Ndukwe, were unsuccessful as he could not be reached via phone as of the time of publishing this report.
