Mailantarki Decries Vandalization Of NNPP Billboards In Gombe

BY NAJIB SANI ADAMU
The governorship candidate of the opposition New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Gombe State Khamisu Mailantarki has decried the alleged vandalization of his campaign billboards in parts of the state capital on the orders of the state government.
He made the statement Saturday in an interview with journalists during the singing of peace accords by governorship candidates in the state organized by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) held at international hotel, Gombe, Gombe State on Wednesday.
According to him, his party installed many billboards in parts of the state capital but they were allegedly being removed and replaced with that of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
“We can’t place signboards, we can’t place billboards. When we place them, they would be removed and replaced with that of another party. This is unfair.
“It is not oughtable for us the candidates to be inciting the youth to foment violence. We need to mentor them and teach them skills not use them to molest someone. The governor is the chief security officer but we are not happy with what is happening because government is exerting power on us”. He alleged.
Also in an interview, the state governor Inuwa Yahaya and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming governorship election said his government is determined to provide level playing ground to all political parties.
He said ensuring peace and harmony is the priority of his administration assuring that he would do everything possible to ensure peace prevails during and after the elections.
However, the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Mohammed Barde has however shunned the peace accord meeting but the party’s state chairman Amnon Kwaskebe told newsman that they would not be part of the accord.
