Bauchi Governor presents N202 billion proposed budget for 2023

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has presented a budget proposal of N202 billion for 2023 fiscal year before the State Assembly for approval. 

Mohammed said the proposed budget is tagged ‘Budget of Accomplishment and Renewed Commitment’

Speaking on the floor House on Wednesday, Governor disclosed that the proposed budget includes capital expenditure of over N114 Billion and recurrent expenditure of N125 billion respectively.

He said that the proposed  budget has a slight increase of 2.6 percent  higher than the 2022 budget size saying all ongoing projects across the state must be completed before the expiration of his first tenure on May 29, 2023. 

“New projects can only be considered where it becomes absolutely necessary,” he said.

 “Despite the dwindling economic challenges that affected the performance of previous budget proposals, my administration has made significant achievements in critical sectors of health, education, agriculture and human capital development.

 “Public hearings have been conducted across the three Senatorial Zones in the state with a view to accommodate input from the citizens towards executing projects that have direct bearing on their lives”

He commended the harmonious relationship between the 9th Assembly and the executive.

 Mohammed appealed for the speedy passage of the budget to allow timely implementation.

In his remarks ,the Speaker, Abubakar Sulaiman said that budget proposal will be give careful and speedy consideration.

Suleiman assured it would be passed into law before the end of the year so that implementation will commence at the beginning of the year 2023.
