A community based organization in Akko local government area of Gombe State known as ‘Lawanti Community Development Foundation’ (LCDF) yesterday assisted 11 households affected by floods in the community with cash.
Speaking during the distribution ceremony, the chairman of the foundation, Abubakar Ubaydah, explained that each beneficiary would receive a token sum of N5,000 support to ameliorate the challenges faced due to the torrential rains which flooded both farmlands and homes.
He urged the beneficiaries to remain steadfast stressing that their current conditions would pass with time.
“We supported 11 people each with N5,000. Among the beneficiaries we have those from Lawanti, Jalingo, Dunamari, Wurodulo, Amachir, Boggage, Jagaruwa. We selected them due to the extent of damage from the flood.
“We are appealing to the government to come to the aid of these people especially those who didn’t get our support”. He said.
On his part, branch secretary of Nigeria Red Cross Murtala Abdullahi, lauded the foundation for the support asking the beneficiaries to utilize the N5,000 in rewarding venture that would alleviate their pains.
