From David Kuvie Bauchi
An unidentified supporter of the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has stumped after trekking 10 kilometers from Wunti to Rafin Zurfi, in Bauchi State.
A fellow ‘Obidient’ was seen attending to the victim who was unconscious, as the LP medical team was alerted.
Chairman of Labour Party in the State, Husseini Saraki, was addressing a huge crowd of supporters at Rafin Zurfi in the scorching sun when the young woman suddenly collapsed.
Cladded in a pair of jeans and white shirt, the victim was surrounded by some supporters of Peter Obi who splashed water on her and held a canopy to serve as shade in order to revive her
The medical team arrived shortly and the victim away for proper medical care.
The ‘obidients’, made up of mostly young people, had defied the scorching sun as they trekked 10 kilometres from Wunti market to Rafin Zurfi, almost paralysing socio economic activities in the state capital in the process.
Edeh Benjamin, Head of Media for the LP in Bauchi State, while speaking with journalists, disclosed that the young woman had been revived due to the organised medical team who arrived promptly and was in good health.
He said the mammoth crowd that turned up for the one million man march was an indication of the love the people of Bauchi State have for Peter Obi.
“The whole 20 local government of the state came with nothing less than 50 buses, 18 seaters- coming from rural areas to show love for Obi,” Edeh said
“For me this is one of the highest gatherings in the north east and lots of mobilisation was involved.
“This is also a testimony of the positive things that’s in stock for the labour party in the general election”
Addressing the crowd of supporters, Saraki, said the massive crowd had sent a strong message that Nigeria belonged to the youth.
“This rally is a way of saying we want our country backback and this is the process,” he said.
“We don’t believe in violence and obidiently we are going to the Villa.
“When you are doing a guerilla fight they won’t see you. But on the day of the election they will be surprised”
Earlier the supporters of the Labour party had converged on the Multipurpose Indoors premises in Bauchi to join the One Million man match in support of the presidential candidate of the party, Peter Obi.
As early as 8 in the morning, the supporters started arriving at the venue from across the 20 LGAs of the state in demonstration of their unalloyed readiness to vote for the party at all levels.
Some of them were seen wearing materials with the symbols of the party while some of them held the party flag high singing and dancing expressing happiness and joy.
They later embarked on a 10-kilometre march from the Wunti roundabouts through the main Ahmadu Bello Way through Yelwa and ended at Rafin Zurfi, a suburb of Bauchi metropolis.
The young woman, in her early 20s must have been exhausted due the long trek in the hot sun.
