Commuters stranded as Ningi-Burra road in Bauchi State collapses
From David Kuvie Bauchi
Residents and commuters of Burra village in Ningi Local Government Area of Bauchi State have been stranded and helpless following the collapse of the road leading to the village.
Resident and commuters spoke of their anguish saying the Ningi-Burra road collapsed after a downpour that started Thursday evening into the early hours of Friday.
Some of the witnesses who were either residents of passengers plying the road are now stranded as no vehicle can cross to either side.
Some of them explained that the road was cut off at Kere village close to Burra and has put residents of the area in hardship as they will now have to go through Kano and Jigawa states to get to Ningi and other parts of the state.
They therefore appealed to the state government to immediately come to the aid of the residents by fixing the collapsed portion before reconstruction of the entire stretch of the road from Ningi.
“We are locked out of Bauchi State now. It has never been this dark. May Allah see us through this moment,” one of them who craved anonymity, said.
