By Najib Sani, Gombe
The Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Ali Pate assisted by Gombe State Governor, Inuwa Yahaya, on Saturday commissioned a newly established Institute of Health Sciences and Technology, Anaesthesia and Critical Care Centre, Isolation and Molecular Laboratory complex and National Health Insurance complex at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Gombe, Gombe State.
The Minister also inaugurated 128 slides computerised tomography scan machine, engineering complex, electronic medical record complex and internal road network at the facility.
During the commissioning, Pate explained that the state-of-the-art facility provided within the hospital aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, which seeks to improve healthcare outcomes and ensure that every Nigerian has access to quality healthcare services.
He also reaffirmed the commitment of the present administration to strengthening Nigeria’s healthcare delivery system, particularly in the area of maternal and child health.
In his speech, Gombe State governor, Yahaya, stated that the newly commissioned structures and equipment at the hospital would go a long way in bridging critical gaps in healthcare delivery across Gombe and its surrounding communities.
According to the governor, the equipment and centres were expected to provide specialised services in maternal, neonatal, and pediatric care while helping to reduce maternal and infant mortality rates in the state.
Earlier, the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Yusuf Muhammad Abdullahi, disclosed that the hospital was the first federal institution to introduce free national emergency medical services initiative under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
He noted that the newly provided equipment would greatly enhance the hospital’s capacity to deliver quality healthcare services to the people of Gombe and beyond.
