Bauchi : Torrential Rainfall Displaces Over 40 Households in Dass

Our Editor
A downpour has unleashed havoc on communities in Dass Local Government Area of Banchi State, leaving hundreds displaced and dozens of houses destroyed.
According to Channels Television, the flooding—triggered by hours of uninterrupted rainfall—affected four communities within the Bununu and Dass West districts. Many of the homes, primarily built with mud, ollapsed under the weight of the water, while farmlands were also swept away.
At least 40 households have been displaced, with affected residents fleeing to nearby communities. Many of them are now in urgent need of relief and humanitarian assistance.
A response team from the Banchi State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), led by the Director of Relief and Rehabilitation, Adamu Nayola, visited the affected areas to assess the extent of the damage.
“We have visited the communities where the flood caused serious devastation,” Nayola told Channels Television. “The problem appears to have been worsened by a culvert constructed by a road construction company, which was unable to contain the volume of water.”
Nayola assured the affected communities that SEMA would provide immediate relief materials and support to displaced residents.
Local authorities and residents are calling for swift intervention to prevent further hardship and ensure proper infrastructure is put in place to manage future flood risks.
