The Arewa Dignity Advancement Initiative (ArDA) has paid glowing tribute to former President Muhammadu Buhari, describing his passing as the loss of a national icon and a symbol of Northern pride.
This was contained in a special condolence message signed by Haj Baheejah Mahmood, Chairperson of ArDA.
The group described Buhari as “a leader, a mentor, and the pride of Northern Nigeria,” adding that his death marked the end of an era.
“We have lost an irreplaceable figure. He was the most accomplished Northerner in terms of positions held, integrity, charisma, and fear of God,” Baheejah said
She recalled that Buhari’s presidency was ushered in with high expectations, given his reputation as a retired military general, former Head of State, and anti-corruption crusader.
“With deep sorrow and a profound sense of loss, the Arewa Dignity Advancement Initiative (ArDA) mourns the passing of His Excellency, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, a son of the North, and a symbol of discipline, integrity, and patriotic service,” the Chairperson said
“The news of his demise has struck the heart of our nation and particularly the Arewa region with immense grief. President Muhammadu Buhari was not just a leader; he was an embodiment of endurance, resilience, and national service.”
“From his early days as a military officer to his time as Head of State and later as a democratically elected President, he committed his life to the unity, security, and progress of Nigeria.
“His legacy of anti-corruption, simplicity in leadership, and devotion to national interests will forever remain etched in our memories and history. We recognize his contributions to Nigeria’s infrastructural development, agricultural revitalization, and efforts at restoring moral order in public service”
Baheejah praised Buhari’s commitment to national development, highlighting his efforts to reduce poverty, fight insecurity and terrorism
,”We pray to God to forgive his shortcomings, reward his good deeds, and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus as his eternal abode.”
“May God comfort his family, the people of Daura, Katsina State, and the entire nation during this painful period. This loss is a solemn reminder that life is indeed short, fragile, and temporary. We call on all Nigerians, especially those in leadership positions, to reflect deeply on the reality of death and the hereafter. Let us be reminded that no matter how powerful or popular we become, we shall all return to our Creator. Let our actions be guided by justice, compassion, sincerity, and fear of God”
The demise of President Muhammadu Buhari is not only a personal loss to his family but a national bereavement. May his soul find peace, and may his life continue to inspire generations of leaders who believe in the dignity of service and the advancement of humanity.”
Offering prayers more for the late president, the ArDA Chairperson said, “We pray Almighty Allah forgives his shortcomings here on earth. He should rest well till we meet to part no more”
