Nigerians Votes Meant to Punish Bad Leaders – Movement Leader

Our Editor
Otunba Segun Showunmi, the Convener of the Alternative Movement, has said that Nigerians votes are meant to punish any bad and undeserving leaders in the country.
He stated this in Bauchi on Friday during a town hall meeting with the people of the state.
According to him, Nigerians are so powerful to make anybody of their choice to lead them through the power of their votes.
Showunmi, who explained that the Alternative movement is to gather Nigerians to start thinking, reasoning and plan on how to govern themselves through the good leaders of their choice
He said “it is time for this country to stand up and run and we will not allow anyone to destroy our country. I’ve come to beg you, pls don’t let these people destroy our country.
“We created democracy so that the child of a nobody can become somebody. It is a greatest sin if you will sell your birthright to anybody.
“If they are serving you well, your vote is meant to reward them but If they are not serving you well, your vote is meant to punish them.
“So, how would you now be selling your votes? You need to go back home and inform the people in your area that that nonsense must stop now”.
Showunmi, who reminded the gathering that the Permanent Voter Cards were given free of charge, said there are many reasons for people to go out en masse and cast their votes for their choices.
He lamented that during an election day when the electorate were supposed to be the king and queen of the land, only few people go out to cast their vote.
“That is why I’m begging you that if the leaders have been doing you wrong, forgive them but the next election that is coming, be the king and the queen.
“It is the height of irresponsibility that the day they want to decide all our fates, the day that has serious implications for years, any human being that is of voting age would not be responsible,” he said.
