Katsina: Radda Presents N682 Billion Budget Proposal to State Assembly for 2025 Fiscal Year

From Abdul Ganiyu, Katsina
Governor Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina State has presented a budget proposal of N682 billion to the State House of Assembly for the 2025 fiscal year for passage.
Dikko disclosed that the state has achieved a remarkable 73 percent revenue generation performance in the preceding year.
The Governor attributed this remarkable performance to innovative collection strategies that have transformed the state’s revenue landscape.
“These strategies include opening new revenue windows, implementing the Treasury Single Account (TSA), conducting proactive revenue investigations, maintaining zero tolerance for financial leakages, and ensuring strict accountability in revenue returns,” he said.
The Governor highlighted an extraordinary milestone in the state’s financial history, noting the accrual of N181, 348 billion from AIDS Grants and Capital Development components of the 2024 Budget.
“This unprecedented revenue collection has been instrumental in enabling the state administration to implement projects and programs with direct and tangible impacts on the lives of ordinary citizens,” he said.
Speaking on the fiscal discipline, Governor Radda declared that the state administration has achieved an expenditure performanc
e of 66.4 percent, continuing to complete numerous projects before the year’s end.
He stressed substantial investments in critical sectors, including education, urban renewal initiatives, and the significant undertaking of clearing long-standing pension and gratuity liabilities.
The Governor, however, pledged to clear all outstanding state government liabilities by December 2024 and local government liabilities by July 2025.
Additionally, the administration has made substantial investments in foreign scholarships, particularly targeting the training of much-needed doctors and specialists for the state.
“Our financial strategy is not just about numbers,” Governor Radda stated.
“It’s about creating sustainable development and providing real opportunities for the people of Katsina State”
