Paul Orude
The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) has reported that 281 inmates are missing
The discovery came to light following an evacuation to a secure location conducted by NCoS officers with the aid of other security agencies.
This was disclosed in a statement released on Sunday in Abuja by the Service Public Relations Officer, Mr. Abubakar Umar.
The NCoS also announced that seven inmates have been recaptured.
Umar said the service possesses comprehensive information on the missing inmates, including their biometric data
He said flood damaged the correctional facilities, including the Maiduguri Medium Security Custodial Centre (MSCC) and staff quarters in Maiduguri
He assured that the NCoS is actively collaborating with other security agencies, employing both covert and overt strategies to locate the escapees.
