No fewer than 22,000 Nigerians have applied for Constable recruitment into the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) in Bauchi State.

The applicants are drawn from the 20 local government areas of the state and are currently participating in screening at the Police Training School (PTS), Yelwa, Bauchi.

Police recruitment is usually conducted by the relevant government agencies, including the Police Service Commission (PSC), Federal Character Commission (FCC), Ministry of Police Affairs, Bauchi State Office of the Head of Service, State Civil Service Commission, and Police Training department

The Commissioner of Police, Bauchi Command, Auwal Muhammad, disclosed the number of applicants in an interview with journalists during a scheduled routine visit to monitor the ongoing process at the PTS, Yelwa, on Wednesday.

The CP however did not reveal the number that is expected to be recruited from the multitudes of applicants but there are feelers that it will not exceed1000 that will make the list per state and the Federal Capital Territory (FCR) Abuja.

The CP thanked the Chairman of the Police Service Commission, Solomon Arase and the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbotekun, for their efforts towards addressing the problem of inadequate manpower in the police.

He assured that the command will support the Federal Government and the PSC to ensure that the whole process is corruption-free and straightforward.

“All people have been warned especially those that are going to partake in the recruitment process that they should shun corruption no body is allowed even to come with money around” The Police Commissioner stated

CP Auwal assured that the recruitment process was going smoothly as planned, adding that the applicants so far have conducted themselves in an orderly manner.

He said that the recruitment process is conducted across the country with the aim of increasing the numerical strength of the Nigerian Police Force across the country.
