Bauchi: GJSS Hadejia Shira wins 2023 interschool Competition on Climate Change

Government Junior Secondary School Hadejia Shira Local Government Area of Bauchi State has won the 2023 inter-school quiz competition on Climate Change.
The quiz competition was organized by the United Nations Children’s Fund, Bauchi Field Office in collaboration with the Bauchi State Universal Basic Education (SUBEB)
The quiz which held at the Oricon Suites, Azare, was organized to commemorate the 2023 World Children Day.
The schools that participated in the inter-school quiz competition were Government Day Junior Secondary School, Yana, Government Junior Secondary Katagum and Government Junior Secondary School, Anguwan Hadejia Shira.
The quiz was moderated by Judges Dr Mahmud Mohammed, Dr Fatima from Aminu Saleh CBinta Haruna and Dr Mahmud Mohammed, all from the Aminu Saleh College of Education, Azare.
According to Dr Clement Adams, Officer –in – Charge, UNICEF Field Office, Bauchi, this year’s WCD aims to bring attention to climate change and its impact on children.
“These schools were supported by UNICEF to incorporate climate change education into their curriculum,” he stated.
He said that the quiz, which was aimed to expose participants to the importance of climate change, focused on issues related to climate change.
The UNICEF Focal Person for Bauchi State Universal Basic Education, Halima Umar, explained that the cmpetion was not meant for them to panick but tio inspore them to read their books and become better students.
Umar commended UNICEF for organizing the quiz competition, saying that the completion will instill in the children the culture of reading.
