Bauchi: Police arrest two as man is shot dead following botched charm testing

Gun testing on a charm to stop bullet penetration in Bauchi State has failed as one person was shot to death with a local gun in the process
While two are now in police net over the fatal drama, the native doctor who allegedly prepared the charm is now on the run with three others as police intensify efforts to apprehend them .
Police Public Relations of the State Command, Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, said a distress call was received at Bursali Police Outstation under Zaki Division.
According to the story, Danladi Ya’u, 28, of Damaiwa village via Bursali ward Zaki LGA, a native doctor (Mediciner) and three other accomplices are now on the run.
They were reported to have gone to Damaiwa bush to test a Gun on one Muhammadu Murtala Ali, aged 43 of the same address after being fortified with local charms to prevent bullet penetration.
“While on the process, the said Muhammadu Murtala was unfortunately penetrated (shot) with the locally made gun by the said Danladi Ya’u (defendant),” Wakil, a Superintendent of Police explained.
“On receipt of the report, a team of detectives led by DPO Zaki swiftly swung into action, rushed to the scene, and evacuated the victim to General Hospital Jakusko Yobe State for medical attention,” he said.
The victim was certified dead by a medical doctor.
“Moreover, two suspects were immediately arrested, and efforts have been intensified to trace and arrest the fleeing accomplices. The investigation is ongoing, after which the defendants will be charged to court,”the PPRO said
“On this note, the Command calls on the public to take this act as a lesson and avoid being used as cannon fodder to casualize innocent and hardworking citizens, because every human soul is very important and sacrosanct to every bearer.
“Consequently, the Commissioner of Police CP Auwal Musa Muhammad PSC, assures the family, friends, and loved ones of the deceased that the Command will remain neutral and ensure that justice is manifested to both”
