Ex- Adamawa Lawmaker Yapak Enjoins Youth To Embrace Skills Acquisitions to cushion hardship

A former member representing Verre Constituency in the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Honorable Abdullahi Umar Yapak has enjoined youth to take to skills acquisition to cushion the effects of the current hardship in the country.
Yapak was Chairman House Committee on education, budget allocation and appropriation, employment, labour and productivity in the Adamawa State House of Assembly.
He gave the advice in an interview with our correspondent in Bauchi on Tuesday, saying that the participation of youth in skill learning will definitely reduce hardship in Nigeria.
“If everybody has something doing, hardship will definitely reduce in the country but if not different crimes will come to your mind,” he warned..
“You should avoid sitting idle while expecting politicians to come and give money to you which is very bad”
He urged the youth to shun living reckless lives but engage in ventures to help themselves.
“Anybody that has made it today had fully prepared himself since from day one,” Yapak said
“During the tenure of governor Murtala Nyako of Adamawa State, he built a skill acquisition centre that trained .many youth in the state on different skills such as building, plumbing, welding, mechanic, tailoring among others.
“Today these youth are some of the best mechanics in Dangote company and its through Governor Murtala Nyako”
Yapak appealed to the National Orientation Agency (NOA) to continue creating awareness to the Nigerian youth so that they will know and accept responsibilities as citizens to engage in viable businesses and skills acquisition for the development of Nigeria.
He called on NOA to visit local governments to sensitise people on the responsibilities of the government and their duties as citizens and how it works to its citizen.
The former lawmaker urged that youth should make good use of the what they are getting from government but not to abandon whatever skills they have learned.
He lamented that some youth go as far as selling the equipment given to them to start and be self reliance.
He also thanked President Bola Tinubu for approving N5 billion to state governors as palliatives to distribute to the masses to cushion hardship in the country.
The former lawmaker appealed to the Federal Government to focus on agriculture by providing timely farm inputs to farmers to boost production.
The lawmaker also stressed the importance of ensuring that the fertilizer should be judiciously subsided farmers and warned hoarders against sabotage.
