Police kill two suspected terrorists, recover 2 AK47 rifles, ammunitions in Katsina.

Katsina State Police  command has  foiled a terrorist attack on Yasore village in Batsari Local Government Area of the State, killing two suspects.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the Command, Gambo Isa, made the disclosure in a press release.

The PPRO said that the incident happened on Wednesday, March 2, at about 7:30 PM.

“A distress call was received that terrorists in their numbers, shooting sporadically with AK 47 rifles, attacked Yasore village, Batsari LGA of Katsina state,”  Isa stated.

“Consequently, the DPO  of Batsari Division, led a combined team of Police and Vigilante group to the area, engaged the terrorists in a fierce gun duel and successfully repelled them”

Isa said that the police recovered

two corpses of neutralised terrorists,  two AK 47 rifles, five AK 47 rifle’s magazines, 97 pieces of 7.62mm ammunition of AK 47 rifles and two ITEL GSM Phones

Other items recovered from the suspects include a bunch of charms, a  black bag containing N2,580, a lighter, a pen and a blue veil.

“Many of the terrorists were reasonably believed to have been neutralised or escaped the scene with gunshot wounds, ” the PPRO said.

“Search parties are combing the nearest bushes with a view of arresting them and recovering their dead bodies. 

“The Command is appealing to members of the communities around the area to report to the nearest police station any person found or seen with a suspected injury”

He said the Commissioner of Police, Mr Koo Yusuf, commended the efforts of the Police and the vigilante for the display of uncommon courage, gallantry and professionalism in dealing with the hoodlums, please.
