By Najib Sani, Gombe
The Bala Wunti Tech Fellows have made their mark at HackJos 2025, Northern Nigeria’s premier technology challenge, by securing three of the top four positions in the competition which was participated by hundreds of contestants from various groups in the north.
The fellows, supported by the popular Bauchi-based charity organisation, Wunti Al-Khair Foundation (WAKF), showcased innovative projects addressing finance, compliance, and logistics.
A volunteer media assistant of the foundation, Isiyaka Isma’il Wunti, disclosed this breakthrough in a press release he issued on Sunday.
He quoted the director of programme at the foundation, Ango Mustapha as saying the feat underscored the foundation’s commitment to driving workable solutions for Nigeria’s economic challenges.
He stated that the winning projects include Agriault-Agro Marketplace and Smart Storage, an e-commerce and financial inclusion solution; Haraj-Simplifying Tax for Every Business, a productivity and financial inclusion tool; and Smart Digital Waybill Platform, a logistics and last-mile delivery solution.
“The performance of our Fellows at HackJos 2025 validates our foundational belief, empowering youth with the right technical skills and problem-solving mindset is the fastest path to sustainable economic development.
“The projects represent practical, scalable innovations that will directly contribute to the economic resilience and growth of Northern Nigeria’s MSME sector,” Mustapha added.
The foundation pledged to further provide seed funding, business mentorship, and access to investor networks to help these projects transition from prototypes to revenue-generating enterprises.
“These wins demonstrate the region’s innovative capacity. We are proud of our fellows’ achievement and look forward to seeing these solutions make a real impact”, he said.
The foundation added that the success of the Bala Wunti Tech Fellows is a testament to its strategic investment in deep, challenge-driven learning, proving that world-class innovation can emerge from Northern Nigeria.
