Bauchi ADC: Sen. Gamawa a Clog in the Wheel

By Sani Mazadu
African Democratic Congress (ADC) is rated and described as a party that potentials, wherewithal and capacity blended with courage to defeat any party that stands its way at 2027 general elections in Nigeria.
It’s a party that has a ray of tested democrats and political juggernauts that can move mountains with ease on the political space. It has all it takes to chase out the ruling party (APC) from power at the centre and its components but that can only be achieved with careful planning and determination rooted in inclusivity, fairness and sincerity of purpose.Although, ADC has reached Bauchi State preparatory for the task ahead, as a participant in the ADC democratic process, I took a critical look of how the permutation is ongoing.
I realized that the party is still at the drawing board for the waited official take-off. There seems to be an internal crisis silently brewing within its leadership associated, with intrusion and planned hijack by its national vice-chairman (diaspora), Sen. Suleiman Nazif Gamawa.
Nazif from an in-depth investigation into the ongoing scheming threatening the success of ADC in Bauchi State has hijacked the party for subsequent deployment to his personal interest and those associated with him as characteristic of his political style of total control to seek relevance on the turf.
As a National Vice- Chairman (Diaspora) of the party, constitutionally, he has no business interfering in Bauchi State internal party affairs unless otherwise directed by the national secretariat, most especially against the party’s Transitional Operational Guidelines other than for greed and pecuniary goal which are his known trademarks over the years.
Although, he wants to be seen as a politician of substance within Bauchi State political corridor with enormous capacity to deliver results, to the majority, he is a pawn in the chess game, always rated as a street political opportunist relying on the capacity and credibility of others to achieve his political goal.
As a renowned political nomad of long standing, at the start of his political career in 2003, he was a card carrying member of PDP. In the absence of serious contestants then in Gamawa federal constituency, he was rescued from aimless wandering and loitering around water related companies in search of a paying job in Kaduna.
He was supported to political relevance by former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar and former Bauchi State Governor, Ahmadu Adamu Mu’azu that he later disappointed as characteristic of him.
He tried a return to the hallow chamber of the national assembly but humiliated and consigned to rubbish heap by the electorates for his high class deceitful mechanism, poor performance and unbridled disloyalty to party apparatchik.
As a political nomad always in search of greener pasture to strike and dominate, when the wind of change came blowing across the political space in 2011, as usual of him, he hurriedly joined the APC bandwagon to tap from the credibility of Muhammadu Buhari for the senate. He was a beneficiary of the hurricane but not on his credibility or capacity.
Suleiman Nazif Gamawa swims in a world of illusion forgetting that life is an empty dream with a span.
He is one of those that expend their lives span or go through life without life going through them.
He is one of those internalize or swallow whatever is flung at them without lifting a finger.
He always wants to be seen as a capacitated politician for trust while the opposite remains the case.
And that remains his approach to life which he presently deploys to remote-control the affairs of ADC in Bauchi State without a mandate.
As one of those trusted by ADC with a national leadership position for a start, he sees that as an opportunity, to hijack the party at the state level by planting his stooges in party leadership, silencing responsible voices that can add value to party survival, and creating a Kingdom for his inordinate ambition without consultation with other critical stakeholders that is presently brewing a farce within the ranks of the party.
There is no gainsaying the fact, that ADC is a party with a very bright and promising future in Bauchi State, but with the presence of self-centred juvenile politicians in its fold, and allowed a say in its leadership management, your guess is as good as mine.
Today, in Bauchi State ADC fold, members are silent in full glare of the blatant injustice and utter nonsense expecting anticipatory retreat from the path of annihilating the party for pecuniary interest, but not afraid to challenge the glaring atrocities of Gamawa against the progress of the party.
This brief, is not a preachment against humility, interest and loyalty, rather, it seeks to encourage ADC members in Bauchi State, including Sen. Suleiman Nazif Gamawa, to show some class of civility, contentment, some dignity, restraint and tact in managing party affairs.
Gamawa should be made to understand in the best of languages on how ADC party affairs are handled and conducted which are at variance with how he messed himself in PDP as Northern Vice-Deputy Chairman, and dribbled other prominent leaders within the PDP fold that include; Isa Yuguda, Jeremiah Useni, Jonah Jang etc.
He should understand simple logic of life that sometimes, good fails, and sometimes evil triumphs but stays for a short period.
ADC members in Bauchi State should draw a line in courage: in faith, meaning: they have to stand up and fight for their rights and those of others against the atrocities on display before their chosen party is reduced to an appendage of APC in silent.
