Five Policemen Killed, Two Injured in Ambush by Suspected Herders in Bauchi

Five ive officers of the Bauchi State Police Command have been killed while two others sustained injuries after a police tactical team was ambushed by unidentified Fulani youths in Sabon Sara village, Darazo Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

The tragic incident occurred on  November 22, 2025 at about 12:40 pm during an intelligence-led visibility patrol aimed at preventing and managing farmer–herder conflict in the area.

 According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, the officers came under heavy attack while on routine patrol.

The combined tactical team comprised personnel of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), 10 PMF Bauchi, Anti-Kidnapping Unit (AKU), and the State Intelligence Department (SID).

The attack claimed the lives of DSP Ahmad Muhammad, ASP Mustapha Muhammed, Inspector Amarhel Yunusa, Inspector Idris Ahmed and Corporal Isah Muazu.

Those injured include Inspector Isah Musa and Inspector Yusuf Gambo.

Following the ambush, the Divisional Police Officer, SP Auwalu Ilu, led a reinforcement team to the scene, rescuing the injured officers and evacuating the fallen personnel to the General Hospital in Darazo.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, visited the scene for an on-the-spot assessment and extended condolences to the families of the deceased officers. He reassured the public that the command remains committed to hunting down the perpetrators and ensuring they face justice.

The command described the incident as a significant setback but reiterated its resolve to remain “fierce, tireless, and relentless” in safeguarding the lives and property of residents of Bauchi State.

The PPRO ntense operations are ongoing to track and arrest those responsible for the attack.
