Police Rescue Abducted Siblings, Arrest Family Member Behind Kidnapping in Bauchi

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a suspected kidnapper identified as Abdulkarim Tasiu, a family member of the victims, for allegedly abducting two minors in Tilden Fulani, Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
The victims, Halima Hamisu (12 years) and Mohammed Aliyu Hamisu (6 years), were successfully rescued in Jos, Plateau State, after days in captivity.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Ahmad Muhammad Wakil, on Saturday, the incident occurred on October 23, 2025,
Wakil revealed that the children’s father, Aliyu Hamisu, reported that his children were kidnapped while waiting for their school bus along the main road in Tilden town.
The PPRO said detectives led by the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Kisaba Rimamnyang, immediately launched an investigation and tracked the suspect, who had demanded ₦50 million ransom but later agreed to collect ₦1.2 million at Farmers Motors Junction in Bauchi.
“The operatives cordoned off the area and arrested the suspect at the point of collecting the ransom,” the statement said.
“Further investigation led the police to Anguwan Rukuba, Jos, Plateau State, where the two children were rescued safely and reunited with their parents.”
During interrogation, the suspect confessed to committing the crime, citing a long-standing grudge with his uncle—the father of the abducted children—as his motive.
In another development, the Command cracked down on motorcycle thieves, arresting two suspects in separate incidents and recovering two stolen motorcycles.
One of the suspects, Ibrahim Muhammad Rabiu of the Gwallaga area, was arrested in possession of a white Jincheng motorcycle valued at ₦100,000, while Abdulrahman Ibrahim, also of Gwallaga, was nabbed for stealing a Haojue ladies’ motorcycle worth ₦250,000 from a bank premises in Bauchi metropolis.
Both suspects have reportedly confessed to the crimes, with investigations ongoing to recover more stolen motorcycles and arrest accomplices.
Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, commended the detectives for their professionalism and directed that the cases be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation and prosecution.
He urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements or criminal activities to the nearest police station.
