The Gombe Progressive Minds, a group advocating for good governance, has commended an entrepreneur in the state, Honourable Mubarak Hamisu Usman, managing director and chief executive officer of Barakbisa Oil and Gas Nigeria Limited for his philanthropic activities especially educational interventions in the state.
In a press release issued to journalists on Thursday, the group’s coordinator, Aliyu Ahmadu Rabo, lauded the entrepreneur’s renovation and upgrade of the late Malam Muhammadu Basakkwace Primary School in Tudun Wada in the state capital.
He also applauded him for awarding education scholarships to two children of late Gombe permanent secretary and two offspring of late Amadi Kasiran who was murdered recently by kalare thugs.
The group also welcomed the entrepreneur’s pledge to enroll 50,000 children back to school in order to reduce out of school children in the state.
Additionally, the group acknowledged the entrepreneur’s support to some orphanages through provision of food as well as his medical outreach programmes at the state specialist hospital.
“He has also in recent time organised a medical outreach programme where about 500 people received free services including medical tests and treatment at Specialist Hospital Gombe. We also acknowledge his donation of N1.2 million to Pantami fire victims. This is what we need all entrepreneurs and big business owners to be doing in the society.
“Every wealthy individual has a duty to give back to the society for what the society has done to him. We will continue to appreciate those who discharge their social responsibilities and encourage others to also do so. Poverty and literacy are bedevilling our society, but with support from all who have the ability, I believe they will reduce drastically”, he stated.
