National Sports Festival: Bauchí Wins First Medals As Bayelsa Leads With 9 Medals

Bauchi state contingents have recorded one silver and one bronze medals at the ongoing National Sports Festival in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
Team Bauchi secured the medals through Safiyanu Isyaka in 102kg Weightlifting male category.
In another development, team Bauchi qualified for the semifinals in Badminton male doubles.
Also, the female handball team advanced to the quarterfinals.
Speaking to one of the official from Bauchi camp, Coach Usman Yusuf said, team Bauchi are expected to grab more medals after conclusion of many sporting events line up for today.
The Bauchi state delegation is expected to win more medals as the festivals progress.
Meanwhile, the Gateway Games 2024, Bayelsa State leads the medal table with nine medals, including six gold, two silver, and one bronze.
Oyo State follows closely behind with one gold, one silver, and one bronze medal, while Lagos State has three gold, four silver, and three bronze medals
Cross River State and Rivers State are also among the leading contenders.
Invited Junior Athletes, dubbed the 38th state, are performing well, occupying sixth place with two gold, one silver, and one bronze.
