Bauchi Govt Inaugurates Mineral Resources, Environmental Management Committee

As part of efforts to ensure the safety and security of its mining environment, the Bauchi State government has inaugurated the executive members of the Mineral Resources and Environmental Management Committee (MIREMCO).
The committee’s primary objective is to protect the environment and communities within the state, while promoting legal mining operations.
During the inauguration ceremony held at the Ministry of Natural Resources Development, Commissioner Muhammad Maiwada Bello, emphasised the government’s determination to harness the state’s mineral resources and promote economic growth.
He stated that the inauguration of the committee marks a significant step towards safeguarding the environment, communities, and investors.
“I charge you to carefully work in line with the ethics governing the establishment of MIREMCO. Your primary function is to protect the interest of our communities by making sure that mining is operated within the legal framework, and I urge you to ensure transparency and accountability in performing your duties,” Commissioner Bello said.
Inuwa Bello Galoji, the newly appointed chairman of MIREMCO, expressed gratitude to the state governor, Bala Mohammed, and the commissioner for the opportunity to serve.
He pledged to work tirelessly to promote the development of mineral resources in the state while ensuring transparency and accountability.
The committee is chaired by Inuwa Bello Galoji from the Miners Association of Nigeria.
Other members include Shehu Umar from the State Ministry of Environment, Ahmed Mai Walle, the State Surveyor General, Comrade Sale Umar Misau from the Ministry of Land and Survey, Daniel Kyau from the Federal Ministry of Environment, Isiyaku Tijjani Bello from the Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Babaji Maijama’a from the Ministry of Agriculture, and Sanusi Garba Imam from the Ministry of Natural Resources Development.
The Federal Mining Officer, Bauchi Office, will serve as the committee’s secretary.
