Encomium As Bauchi Gets First Professor of Arabic. Literature

Professor MuhaqQmmad Safiyyu Abdulkadir of the Federal University Kashere, Gombe State, has become the first indigene of Bauchi to become a professor in Arabic Literature (Nigerian Arabic Literature)

The Bauchi State born Islamic scholar has carried out useful and valuable scientific research that are relied upon by academic and non-academic in articles, magazines and books.

Metoric Post reports that Prof Saffiyu has written more than 40 articles, including, book reviews, a book in a chapter, and others in his field of study and in other scientific fields.

He was honored by scholars at a recent reception in Bauchi where his devotion to writing scientific research was celebrated.

He has attended many scientific meetings, conferences, symposiums, workshops and training courses globally.

Secretary of the National Association of Teachers of Arabic and Islamic Studies (NATAIS), Professor Ramadan Sheriff, reacted to Professor Andulkadir’s promotion to professorship rank.

Sheriff, in a congratulatory message delivered at a reception by associates and well-wishers to honour the scholar, said Professor Safiyyu Abubakar’s “resilience, commitment to knowledge acquisition and dissemination, and passion for scholarly development exemplify the values he instilled in us in NATAIS”

“Being the first Bauchi State indigene to attain such an honour is a testament to your knack for scholarly excellence, dedication to intellectual erudition, and the profound impact of the education provided by our father, teacher and mentor, late Sheikh Sheikh Abdulkadir Musa Jahun of blessed memory, ” he said.

 “It is with immense joy that we celebrate your success and take pride in the fact,”  Bauchi State Director of National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies NBAIS, Mallam Abdurrashid Abdulkadir, said.

Mallam Abdulkadir described Professor Safiyyu as “a product of the esteemed Scholar and congratulated him on the well-deserved promotion to the distinguished position of Professor in Arabic Literature”

.”This remarkable feat accentuates your accomplishments and is a beacon of pride for us at NBAIS, NATAIS, islamic centers in Nigeria and the entire African continent”

On their part, the Center for Qur’anic Schools Traditional Schools led by Alaramma Zakariya’u Dauduwo congratulated Professor Safiyyu on his milestone achievement.

Responding, Professor Safiyyu expressed his gratitude to all people that attended the occasion and prayed to God to reward his parents for their commitment towards the development of Islam.

He prayed to Allah to reward his parents who have him.proper knowledge, guidance and good upbringing that helped him to succeed.

The. Scholar also dedicated his Professor and honour to all amajiri pupils that memorise the Holy Qur’an.

Metoric Post report that Professor Muhammad Safiyyu Abdulkadir was born in Bauchi Local government area, Bauchi State Nigeria on 22nd .of April, 1974. He w attended Usmanu DanFodio University, Sokoto, University of Jos, Plateau, Bayero University, Kano, Kano State,Government Arabic Teachers College, Gombe, Gombe State and  Unguwar Barno Primary School, Bauchi,

He attained the rank of professor at the Federal University of Kashere Gombe State on January 1, 2024. He holds a doctorate degree in Arabic Language, Master’s degree in Arabic Language, and a Bachelor of Art (ED) in Arabic Second Class.                     

Professor Safiyyu is a member of the Academic Staff Union Universities (ASUU), Nigeria Association of Teachers of Arabic in colleges of Education and Illied Institutions (NATACEDAI) and Member, National Association of Teachers of Arabic and Islamic Studies (NATAIS)                                                                                   

Prof. Muhammad Safiyyu has held many demonstrative positions which includes being the first Arabic Lecturer at Federal University of Kashere from 2013 to date.

He worked as a lecturer with Abubakar Tatari ali polytechnic Bauchi and the Sa’adatu Rimi college of Education as part time lecturer. 

He also taught University students courses at various academic levels for both undergraduates and post graduates. 

The scholar has supervised many graduate and postgraduate research and is currently supervising three doctoral students.

Prof. Muhammad Safiyyu has carried out a lot of academic responsibilities, including being the Head, Department of Languages Federal University, Kashere Gombe: 2016-2018,  Arabic Coordinator, 100 Level, Federal University, Kashere Gombe 2014-2016,  Head, Department of Arabic Languages Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic Consultancy Services (ATAP CONSULT LTD), 2008-2013, Head, Department of Education N.C.E Prpgramme Sa’adatu Rimi College of Education, Kano Kumbotso, Bauchi Outreach, 2012-2017, Senate Member, Federal University, Kashere Gombe, 2016-2018, Chairman Accreditation Committee, 2016, Chairman Post Utme/De Screening committee for the 2018/2019 Academic Session. 2017, Chairman, Arabic Curriculum Review Committee, 2018, Member, Promotion Committee,melember, Departmental  Journal Committee,2018, Chairman Post Utme/De Screening committee for the 2018/2019 Academic Session.

Professor Muhammad Safiyyu has received honorary certificates and awards from many different associations’ foundations and institutions from inside and outside the country.

They include certificate of Merit Award as a First young Arabic Ph.D Holder in Bauchi State 2012 by College of Islamic Studies Bauchi., Da’awa Award of Merit in recognition of fatherly advice, dedication and general support to the growth and development of Da’awa in Bauchi State, Madrasatu Tahzibul-aulad wa Tahfizul-qur’an. Makama S.12 Bauchi. 2013, certificate of Merit Award as the best societal and Religious Philanthropist by Malam Abdulkadir Islamic Resource Center, Jahun Bauchi 2019, certificate of Merit Award in recognition and appreciation of the co-operation and supporting to the group by Nigerian Group of Jama’atu Riyadhil Islam 2019, award of Merit as best contributor in developing Arabic Teaching and learning in 21 century by National board For Arabic And Islamic Studies (NBAIS) 2024 among other recognition and received numerous letters of commendation and appreciation from his university

He is well known for active participation community service, and always participated in serving people as Qur’an/lsamic Teacher, Madrasatu Ihyai Al-dini Al-Islamee, Vestibule of Late Mal. He is the only scholar selected by Nigeria for the position of Director General in the OIC in 2013, but unfortunately, there was a delay with the federal government and another country took over this position..  a copy of the letter for this nomination is still available in the hands of the professor.
