Bauchi: Dass Caretaker Chairman Commends Governor Mohammed for Imitating Local Govt. Autonomy

From Paul Orude Bauchi

The Caretaker Chairman of Dass Local Government Area of Bauchi State, Comrade Mohammed Abubakar Jibo, has commended Governor Bala Mohammed for initiating reforms in the third tier of government in the state.

Jibo said through the realization of the Local Government autonomy in the State, the council under his leadership has been able to serve the people at the grassroots well.

The council Caretaker Chairman made the remark on the occasion of the commissioning of BAM new market in Dass and the launching of N50 million empowerment grant to some selected individuals in the Local Government Area.

“We also thank His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Abdulkadir Mohammed (Wazirin Dass) for making it possible to serve our people well through the realization of the Local Government Autonomy in the State,” he said.

“By this, he has placed us among the few local governments in Nigeria that operate independently without any interference.

“This is the secret of our developmental projects in the Local Government”

Jibo explained that the commissioning of the market and the N50 million empowerment grant are timely considering the economic hardship being experienced in the country.

“We are here to commission the new BAM Market to boost economic activity in the local government and distribute some items and money worth the total sum of N50 million to the most needy and vulnerable individuals across the local government.

“It is our belief that this will help a lot in improving the economic power of these individuals.

“We also assure our people that more and more of these programmes are on the way, considering the enormous support, opened door policy and total freedom we are receiving from the governor”

The council boss said since inception his leadership has initiated and implemented various programmes that have benefitted the people.

“These include the provision of good and healthy water in some communities, renovations of some dilapidated primary school structures and provision educational materials such as teaching and learning aids, provision of health care facilities to some Health Facilities across the Local Government.

“The local government also invests a lot on security matters due to the in-flow of some miscreants in to the local government from other states.

“We now have relative peace in the Local Government as people go about their farming and business activities without any fear of being attacked”

The council boss extolled the Emir of Dass, Dr. Usman Bilyaminu Othman for complementing developmental programmes across the local government and the Commissioner, Alhaji Ahmed Sarki Jalam.

“To the people of Dass, we have no word to express our gratitude to you for the support and care you show to us,” he said.

“We only pray to God to continue to grant us good health and opportunity to serve you better.

“As your servant, it is our covenant that we will do everything within our capacity to see to it that Dass is greatly uplifted and our people live a better life, all round”
