BY NAJIB SANI ADAMU
The National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS), Gombe State chapter has promised that it would ensure only schools that meet the standards are registered as members of the association in the state.
Newly elected state chairman of the association Abubakar Umar made the promise over the weekend shortly after he was inaugurated alongside other new executives of the association.
He said private schools are being established to complement government in providing sound education to the public adding that proprietors should ensure that their schools meet the standards set by the government before opening schools in order not to compromise quality education in the society.
According to him, the association of proprietors on its part will assist government in encouraging that member schools meet the requirements and run standard schools.
“As part of our manifestos, the improvement of standard of our schools is our utmost priority. It is obvious that the proliferation of private schools in the state is quite encouraging, thus there is a great need for NAPPS as an Apex body of all private schools to come in and make sure that all the necessary requirements needed to put in place for the establishment and running a standard private school are followed accordingly.”, he stated.
Our correspondent reports that Abubakar, a proprietor of Nana Maimunat Memorial Academy emerged the chairman of the association having polled 111 votes to beat his rival Uwaifo Timothy Easy, proprietor of Standard Integrated School all in the state capital who scored 42 votes.
