Flood: NEDC donates relief materials worth millions to victims in Bauchi

The Northeast Development Commission NEDC relief items worth millions of naira to victims of flood disaster in Bauchi State.
This was part of the commission’s efforts through ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management to ameliorate suffering of the victims including internally displaced persons IDPs across the subregion.
Items donated include 10,000 bags of rice, five thousand Blankets five thousand Mats, five thousand pieces of Wrappers and three thousand Children Wears.
Presenting the items to Governor Bala Mohammed, the leader of delegation and the Managing Director of NEDC Mohammed Goni Alkali said the gesture was part of activities to mark world Humanitarian Day earlier flagged off in Maiduguri.
Alkali who commiserated with the State over the devastating effect of the flood said the commission is determine to work with government at all levels to come up with measure that would prevent reoccurrence of the ugly trend.
The State Governor who said the gesture would go along way in providing succur to the victims, commended President Muhammadu Buhari for supporting the commission to carryout it’s responsibility effectively.
While assuring equity and justice in the distribution of the items provided, the Governor appointed his Deputy Senator Baba Tela to head the committee constituted for the distribution exercise.
Bala Mohammed also advised the commission to introduce a special intervention programme that would support dry farming activities with a view ensure food security.
